Iconic cars visit Bristol Street Motors Carlisle during anniversary road trip

Bristol Street Motors Vauxhall Carlisle welcomed a group of car enthusiasts during a marathon rally across the country celebrating the 40th anniversary of one of Vauxhall's iconic models.

Owners of Vauxhall's Mark 1 Cavalier visited Bristol Street Motors Vauxhall Carlisle as part of their road trip from Durness in the Scottish Highlands to Dover on England's South Coast. It was a homecoming for one of the visiting Cavaliers, as it is returned to the Vauxhall Carlisle dealership where it was originally purchased.

Drivers covered more than 700 miles during the rally, stopping at various Vauxhall dealerships across the country including the Carlisle dealership on the city's Kingstown Industrial Estate.

As part of the visit, the touring drivers were greeted by the Bristol Street Motors team and representatives from Vauxhall that included Dave Murray, Senior Sales District Manager; Michael Dawson, Aftersales District Manager and Paul Wolstenholme, Regional Marketing Manager and a new Vauxhall Viva, which is being revived after it was discontinued in 1979.

The cross country trek was celebrating the 40th anniversary of the launch of the Vauxhall Cavalier. The Mark 1 Cavalier was initially produced in November 1975 and was available as a coupe, a saloon and a hatchback until it was upgraded in 1981. The Mark 2 was launched in August of the same year, with a Mark 3 also available in1988 before the Cavalier name disappeared in 1995.
