Workshop manager celebrates 30 years at Hughes Mercedes-Benz

The team at Hughes Mercedes-Benz of Beaconsfield is celebrating the 30th work anniversary of one of its colleagues.

Aaron Cunliffe, who has always been interested in working on cars, started at the site after qualifying as an apprentice with Vauxhall. Upon joining the Mercedes-Benz franchise, he trained to the highest skill level, achieving Diagnostic level in May 2004. He has worked at the dealership ever since, in roles including technician, assistant foreman, workshop foreman and assistant workshop manager, to his most recent role as workshop manager.

As workshop manager, Aaron oversees a team of 40 colleagues including 28 technicians, apprentices and workshop assistants. To commemorate his 30 years’ service, Aaron was invited to a celebratory lunch, with other long serving colleagues from across Vertu Motors plc, the Group which operates Hughes Mercedes-Benz of Beaconsfield.

Aaron, who lives in High Wycombe, said: “I am fortunate to work for a fantastic company, which has given me the opportunity to progress to different roles throughout my career and has aided my personal development.

“It may not be the norm to work in the same place for such a long time these days, but I am able to do a job I love, while working with a great group of people and meeting new customers. I was delighted to attend the lunch with other long serving colleagues, and hope that my own team are happy to put up with me for a little longer!”

Simon Eggs, market area director at Hughes Mercedes-Benz of Beaconsfield, added: “I joined Hughes in 1992 as service manager and Aaron was employed as a senior technician in the service department. I quickly identified that he was a key asset to the business and the person to rely on for complex technical issues.

“His quality of work is excellent, as is his in-depth knowledge of the Mercedes-Benz brand. When the opportunity arose he was ideally suited to further his career by assuming greater responsibility, within the department in the role of foreman and then manager.

“Today he oversees a team of 40 technicians and apprentices, acting as a mentor and utilising his wealth of experience to resolve issues and provide guidance to his team. A trusted and valued colleague!”
