Our dealerships operate predominantly under the Bristol Street Motors, Vertu Motors and Macklin Motors brand names. We are looking for a Head of Data & Analytics to join us in this newly created role.

As a newly created role, this is a fantastic opportunity to devise the data strategy for the group, to lead and build a centralised team and take responsibility for existing embedded data teams.

We are looking for an experienced individual to build upon and improve our technology stack, constructing a solid foundation to leverage our data assets into competitive advantages in our market. We are already a strongly data led business with high quality MI and we want to build on this with a comprehensive data strategy encompassing the following elements:

  • Establishing the technology resources to be able to deliver resilient high-quality data, at speed, and with the minimum of manual intervention. This will include providing self-service data resources to operational teams
  • Building a team of data professionals across the business who can bring to life the actionable insights within the accumulated data assets to improve decision making in all areas of our business. This will encompass creating data science capabilities and visualisation techniques.
  • Provide the underlying data resources to maximise the effectiveness of our Customer Data Platform to enhance our Customer communications and enable real time personalisation of Customer journeys.
  • Establish an effective data governance regime which also ensures we have the appropriate levels of data privacy and security in place

Key Areas of responsibility will include:

  • Lead and develop a central team of data architects and business analysts as well as oversee data colleagues embedded within other business functions e.g. Marketing, Finance, Operational Sales and Aftersales senior management.
  • Work closely with the senior management of the Group to provide advice, guidance, and direction to the business in relation to data.
  • Responsible for all data and reporting produced in all areas of the business ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and governance. Ensure all departments are accountable for the data they produce.
  • Lead the selection of technology in relation to data, advising the business of what will add value in a highly competitive industry, allowing for scalability, automation and speed of delivery, and ensuring that the data requirements are appropriately translated into technical solutions.

As this is a senior role there is an expectation to work from our offices based in Team Valley, Gateshead for at least 3 days a week. However, we operate a hybrid working policy and are flexible to working from home when required. There will also be a requirement to travel on occasion to visit our dealership sites and meet with colleagues and stakeholders who are based around the UK.

We are looking for you to have

  • Thorough understanding of designing and implementing data strategies and systems.
  • Proven track record in data management, leadership, data strategy and tools.
  • Experienced in working with cloud technologies using industry leading toolsets and platforms.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and issue resolution skills to make the business case for data management, secure organisational alignment and resources to drive through data management initiatives.
  • Experience of working with 3rd parties and engaging resources outside of direct-control to achieve objectives.
  • Proven ability to apply analytical and creative thought.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

We are proud to be the Motor Retailer who invests more in our colleague's personal development than any other, so if you are successful, you can look forward to on-going training opportunities that provide you with the right career path, career progression and a range of benefits you would expect from an employer of choice which includes:
