At Vertu Motors, our IT team aim "To provide world class IT systems that enable Vertu to deliver an outstanding customer motoring experience". We are now recruiting for a highly technical hands-on Senior Networks Engineer role with overall responsibility for all Vertu data and voice networks. Reporting to the Group IT Manager, the successful candidate will manage all aspects of the network infrastructure providing BAU 3rd line technical support as well as lead all network related projects.
Within this role you will be responsible for the design, build and implementation of all technical networking solutions to meet business requirements and the IT Infrastructure strategy. This includes supporting resilient data centres and over 120 physical locations.
As a senior member of the IT team you will manage a network infrastructure engineer providing guidance, support, coaching and training. In addition, you will be responsible for training the wider IT team, ensuring best practice is followed and knowledge is spread across the department.
You will have excellent oral and written communication skills with a professional level of understanding and experience of routing & switching, LAN & WAN technologies. Report writing skills are essential as well as presenting technical designs to senior management. The aptitude to learn new technologies & concepts is key, working closely with the Group IT Manager to introduce these to the business where appropriate.
You will have the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with customers and cross functional teams. A team player with good listening skills, strong customer focus, close attention to detail and rigorous organisation skills. Working effectively under pressure is essential.
Industry standard certifications such as CCNA is essential whilst CCNP or equivalent is preferred and other networking security qualifications would be an advantage. Experience overall will be considered as well as qualifications. You should have a proven track record in a networking infrastructure role delivering and supporting enterprise scale networking solutions.
You may be required to participate in out of hours work.
For this role we are looking for you to have experience in the following areas:
Data centre network infrastructure resilience, failover systems, security, firewalls.
Day to day management of voice and data networks.
Network design, diagrams, documentation, root cause analysis reporting, change management.
Work closely with 3rd party managed service & support providers.
Ensure network capacity planning is in place for all aspects of the network.
Experience of network audits, real-time monitoring, network troubleshooting.
Manage key stakeholder expectations by owning the risks and issues associated with projects, ensuring these are reported and resolved in a timely manner.
Previous experience supporting MPLS, IPVPN, VoIP, SIP, CUCM, HSRP, BGP, knowledge of VPN (IPSEC, RADIUS, TACACS and QoS)
Networking aspects of VMWare
Experience in network security best practices. Working with partners facilitating internal and external penetration testing. Familiar with Nessus or other vulnerability scanning platforms.
Familiar with cyber security best practices.
Experience using SIEM systems.
Familiarity of Internet technologies and tools (e.g. Apache, SMTP, SSL, DNS, firewalls, proxy devices and load balancers)
Knowledge of the following technologies would be advantageous:
Palo Alto/Watchguard Firewalls
Ddos mitigation systems, IPS/IDS systems
Experience with VoIP/SIP, ideally Cisco UCM.
