Bristol Street Motors lends a helping hand to charity

Bristol Street Motors has lent a helping hand to a charity dedicated to people who have worked in the automotive industries and their dependants.

The car dealership, part of Vertu Motors, has given national automotive charity BEN the loan of a Citroen DS3 to maintain its important role in supporting those in the motor industry who are experiencing hardship or distress.

The charity, which provides a wide range of different types of support depending on circumstances, costs about £11million each year to run and is reliant on donations and fundraising.

The loan of the car from Bristol Street Motors will allow BEN’s Care and Welfare Systems Specialist Nikki Brown, pictured here with Alan Kershaw, General Manager of Bristol Street Motors Citroen Leicester, to travel between locations with ease and make her job a whole lot easier.

Nikki’s role is vital for the charity and she was in need of a reliable mode of transport as she is required to travel between BEN’s care centres and offices in Rugby, Coventry, Ascot, Southport, Birmingham and Northumberland.

In her role, Nikki is currently involved in the implementation of an electronic care planning system across the care centres and is also a Welfare Officer, a role requiring her to go out into the community and support some of the beneficiaries in times of need, travelling to provide face-to-face guidance and also financial grants in some cases.

She said: “I am extremely grateful to Bristol Street Motors for the loan of the Citroen DS3. Without it, my job wouldn’t be possible. It enables me to support our beneficiaries, residents, members, staff and volunteers directly, which in turn is helping BEN to deliver our invaluable support and services and for that they have my sincerest thanks and appreciation.”

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu Motors said: “Bristol Street Motors have supported BEN for two years now and everyone here is in complete admiration of the work that Nikki and her colleagues are doing. It is a wonderful charity and we are grateful that we can help contribute to the valuable service they are providing to people who have worked in the automotive industry and find themselves in difficult circumstances. Nikki has a very hectic yet rewarding role at Ben and it requires a lot of travel and we are more than happy to lend our services.”
