Vertu And Eagles Extend Long-Standing Partnership

Vertu And Eagles Extend Long-Standing Partnership

The partnership between Newcastle Eagles and Vertu will continue into 2026 and beyond thanks to a new multi-year agreement between Britain’s most successful basketball team and the UK’s fourth-largest automotive retailer group.

The extension means the partnership, which dates back to 2014 as one of the most long-standing relationships in British basketball, will run well into a second decade with Vertu retaining naming rights to the Eagles’ home – the Vertu Arena on Scotswood Road.

Operated by the Eagles Community Foundation and opened in 2019, the multi-purpose arena has a capacity of over 2,500 fans for Newcastle Eagles games, and has become a major venue for use by community programmes and local businesses from across the region.

The extended partnership will allow Vertu to continue working hand-in-hand with the Foundation on a series of programmes designed to assist people across Newcastle and the wider North East region.

Initiatives including Science of Basketball and Hoops 4 Health have both benefitted from Vertu’s support across the past decade, helping to boost the number of people participating in the sport.

In addition to the naming right’s deal, Vertu’s twelve-year partnership with the club sees the nearby Vertu Honda Newcastle dealership continue to supply a fleet of vehicles that enable players to deliver outreach activity across the region.

Vertu’s nearby Ford dealerships will also continue to utilise the Arena for a series of activations, such as the Drive 4 Ur Community event hosted by Vertu Ford Newcastle last summer.

Samantha Blake, CEO of the Eagles Community Foundation, said: “Everyone at the Eagles is delighted to see the arena partnership with Vertu Motors extended.

“Their continued support of the arena goes beyond naming rights - it helps ensure that this venue remains a welcoming home for community programmes, grassroots sport, education initiatives and opportunities that change lives across the North East.”

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu, said: “We are delighted to extend our relationship with the Newcastle Eagles, which has been a huge success both on and off the court over the past decade.

“Supporting both the Eagles and the Arena itself has allowed us to make a positive impact on thousands of people from across the North East during our time working together.

“Not only do we look forward to seeing the Eagles continue to fly high in competition, we are also excited about continuing to work with the Eagles Community Foundation to help grow the sport.”
