BMW Motorrad Sunderland Goes The Egg-stra Mile To Back Easter Events
BMW Motorrad Sunderland has thrown its support behind youngsters across the North East by backing two special events taking place over the Easter period.
The dealership on Boldon Business Park is acting as a collection hub for two separate Easter Egg Run events, with local people – both bikers and non-bikers – invited to visit the dealership to donate to the cause.
Firstly, the Durham Chapter of the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association (Widow Sons MBA) will hit the road to deliver eggs to special schools, across the region in late March.
On Easter Sunday, the annual Durham Easter Egg Run will then see hundreds of bikers come together to support a range of local charities, distributing eggs to children across the North East, including those in foster care and those with special needs.
When visiting the site to make donations to the two causes, customers are invited to check out the full range of BMW Motorrad bikes on display, which includes award-winning models such as the M 1000 R, the R 1300 GS and the F 900 GS.
BMW Motorrad Sunderland colleagues will be on hand to share their knowledge and advice over a coffee, offering insight into what it means to be part of the ever-expanding Vertu Motorcycles community.
Colleagues at the dealership have already gathered a substantial number of donations, with local businesses such as James Price Motorcycles NE Ltd and the WR Group dropping off eggs for the bikers to distribute.
Rebecca Price, Business Manager at BMW Motorrad Sunderland, said: “We are proud to be backing both the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association (Durham Chapter) for their annual Easter Egg Run, and the Durham Easter Egg Run this year.
“The Widows Sons MBA will be delivering chocolate eggs - and plenty of smiles - to children in special schools across our region, while the Durham Easter Egg Run brings people together to distribute eggs to children in North East hospitals as well as children in foster care and those with special needs.
“Both rides will be helping youngsters who need some extra love and support, and a huge thank you must go to all the amazing customers and the local businesses who’ve already got involved as the response has been incredible. It really shows what this community is all about.
“Each egg means more smiles delivered and we’re only just getting started - so fingers crossed we can keep the momentum going and fill the dealership with chocolate goodness!”
Simon Whitmore, President Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association (Durham Chapter), said: “After COVID put paid to this event, Widows Sons MBA Durham has now placed this yearly ride firmly back on the calendar.
“It is a truly rewarding and humbling experience to visit these places and give out Easter eggs and SEND toys to youngsters, and bring a smile to their faces.”
Graeme Mills, Organiser Durham Easter Egg Run, said: “The Durham Easter Egg Run is an established event that wouldn’t be possible without the support of the public who come together to make donations, so we have to say a huge thank you to the team at BMW Motorrad Sunderland for acting as a collection hub.
“Last year, more than 1,000 bikers came together to take part in the Easter Egg Run, all because people wanted to support children across the North East. We’re looking forward to doing it all again this year and putting smiles on faces.”
Donations will be accepted at BMW Motorrad Sunderland until the middle of March.
