Vertu Colleagues Scale Three Peaks In 24 Hours for Leukaemia UK

Vertu Colleagues Scale Three Peaks In 24 Hours for Leukaemia UK

A team from a trio of Vertu’s Ford dealerships in the Midlands took on the gruelling Three Peaks challenge with the aim of raising £5,000 for Leukaemia UK.

The challenge, which involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours, was organised by David Lee, who oversees the Vertu Ford Birmingham site.

The annual fundraising event sees the business support a charity chosen by its team – this year, Leukaemia UK was selected due to its personal significance to one of the participants, who himself has leukaemia.

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu, said: “We have a strong culture of supporting charities that matter to our colleagues, and this event is a testament to that. The Three Peaks is no small undertaking, and I’m incredibly impressed by the determination and unity shown by the team. Their efforts will help fund vital research and support for those affected by leukaemia.”

Vertu Ford Birmingham has a long-standing commitment to charitable work, regularly organising fundraising events and community outreach initiatives. Previous efforts have included food bank collections, local sponsorships and support for national health charities.

David Lee, General Manager at Vertu Ford Birmingham, added: “We’re proud to be part of a business that encourages us to make a difference. This challenge is personal for many of us, and we’re climbing not just for the cause, but for our colleague and everyone affected by leukaemia.

'The team has shown incredible spirit in preparing for this, and we’re confident we’ll reach our fundraising goal.”

Leukaemia UK funds life-changing research and campaigns to improve diagnosis, treatment and care for people affected by the disease. Despite decades of progress, only half of leukaemia patients live longer than five years after diagnosis.
